Overview
Cameron James Professional Recruitment is delighted to be representing a leading, nationally recognised estate agency group that is seeking a Trainee Mortgage Advisor to join their high-performing Walderslade branch. This is an exceptional opportunity for an ambitious CeMAP 1 qualified individual to step into the mortgage industry with full training, daily support and a large local client base. The Walderslade office handles properties valued up to £2 million, with an average property value of £550,000 and nearly 80 properties sold each month, creating the ideal platform for a motivated trainee to build a successful and rewarding career.
Main Duties
In this role, you will work closely with a busy team of estate agency professionals, receiving a steady stream of new leads every day. You will learn how to conduct detailed fact-finds, identify client needs and support the delivery of tailored mortgage and protection advice. You will also engage with the branch’s substantial database of nearly 2,000 existing customers to explore remortgage opportunities and develop long-term client relationships.
Your day-to-day duties will include speaking with clients, gathering financial information, understanding their goals and assisting senior brokers with presenting suitable mortgage options. You will also learn how to progress mortgage applications, liaise with lenders, and maintain regular communication with clients to ensure a positive customer experience. As you develop, you will work more independently and gradually transition into a fully-fledged Mortgage Broker within the business.
This role requires a proactive approach, as you will be working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment where teamwork, communication and commitment are essential.
Key Requirements
To succeed in this position, you must already hold CeMAP 1 (or an equivalent qualification) and have previous experience in a customer-facing or sales-based role. Strong communication skills, confidence speaking with clients, and the ability to build rapport quickly are essential. You must also have a clean credit history, a full UK driving licence, and a strong desire to learn. This role is ideal for someone who is ambitious, target-driven, eager to progress and ready to build a long-term career within the mortgage sector.
Salary, OTE & Benefits
The position offers a basic salary between £25,000 and £26,000 including car allowance, supported by a competitive bonus and commission structure. Trainees typically earn between £45,000 and £55,000 in their first year, rising to £60,000 – £65,000+ in year two as they gain confidence and experience. You will also receive pension, life assurance, ongoing coaching, full training support and access to one of the busiest client bases in Kent.
